twilight

watercolor 8/2021

She lost herself in the trees

among the ever-changing leaves.

She wept beneath the wild sky

as stars told stories of ancient times.

The flowers grew towards her light,

the river called her name at night.

She could not love an ordinary life

with the mysteries of the universe

hidden in her eyes.

Wakan Tanka, this night

I lift up voice and hands,

I ask for blessings for

those going through

tragic and hard times,

loss and lonliness, hardship

and pain. I pray for those

fourleggeds without a voice.

May they all feel your

Blessings.

the sentinel

‘Benevolent spirits surround us as silent sentinels. They watch. Holding the space for our awakening. Sending a nudge when we reach a crossroads horses help us find the trail…… The way back to our true selves.’

……… Kim McElroy

I cannot remember a time when I could not see the cosmic beauty within animals. Animals were my closest friends when I was a child and they still send me the gift of guidance. I feel truly blessed to have this experience and would welcome all to see the animals with knowing eyes of the heart. Be still and connect in the stillness. Then see what happens for you. Do this with all animals as often as possible. Then see what happens.

dreamcatcher

In Art Watercolor Gallery, Painted Ponies on August 24, 2019 at 4:33 pm

watercolor 2018

The shape of the dreamcatcher is a circle because it represents the circle of life and how forces like the sun and moon travel each day and night across the sky. The dreamcatcher web catches the bad dreams during the night.

The night air is filled with good and bad dreams. The legend of the dreamcatcher is that it captures the bad spirits and filters them in so protecting us from evil and letting through only the good dreams.   It is believed that each carefully woven web will catch bad spirit dreams in the web and disappear by perishing with the first light of the morning sun.

So…does the unicorn exist now or ever? Perhaps whatever we can imagine with the mind does exist.

Long before the pearly white unicorn of European lore, a one-horned, magical animal was said to roam the Eastern world: the Asian unicorn. First mentioned in written stories around 2700 BC, this unicorn is described as a creature of great power and wisdom. Always benevolent, it avoids fighting at all costs and walks so softly it will not crush a blade of grass. And no one but the very pure of heart should ever see it.
