The guardian wolf was inspired by ‘spotted face‘ and his remarkably sensitive posts. He too is a keeper of the earth.

These are gigantic bears. We have black bears on my mountain and, even though they seem really large and fearsome to me, they are considered small in comparison to the grizzly or brown bear. Native Americans believe in the grizzly’s spiritual power and wearing a bear claw necklace would protect the warrior.

A Sioux name meaning earth. A good name for this wolf hiding in the woods. Have you ever been in the forest and felt something was watching you. I had that experience last fall. My dogs were very uneasy. Needless to say, I high tailed it out of there.

The white bear’s name is from the Komi language. He is waiting on the ice for a seal to appear from it’s breathing hole. It has been said that when the polar bear hunts for prey he covers his muzzle which is black.

“Mouse Trap”….yes that’s his name for probably obvious reasons. Anyway, he was caught earlier today with his paw in the family fish bowl. He can’t help himself. See….he is dreaming of all the fish….schools of neons, a very fat and probably succulent gold fish. Oh there are so many fish in that aquarium.

enigma

I spend a lot of time with my two dogs walking in the National Forest of the San Bernardino Mountains. I’m lucky because it’s right across the street from my cottage. Anyway, when we walk, my large dog usually wanders into the woods out of sight. I never worry about his location because he always knows where I am. He will be gone for a half hour sometimes. The thing that is so interesting is that he can disappear into the bushes and 2 minutes later come out of some undergrowth further up the trail. I have even followed his tracks in the snow. They stop and here he comes walking toward me and the only tracks I can see are those coming toward me. I have no idea how he gets from one place to the other. Others have experienced this also. ‘How did he do that?’ they say. I call him the “Shapeshifter.” It seems as though there is something inexplicable and going on here. His name is “Buddha” and he is a very magical dog. He even looks magical……..from middle earth perhaps.

Buddha the dog. Notice his tail. Looks like he bowered it from a raccoon.
