This is my wolf muse, Dhyren, at 3 months. His coat is still soft at this age. His coat as well as his facial markings will change completely as he reaches adulthood. A wonderful little devil.

I’m really jonesing for a barn owl sighting. On my early morning walk I was accompanied by a raucous raven. Joining the cacophony were two wolf hybrids unwillingly contained behind a very tall chain link fence. They don’t bark. Just kinda make a sound somewhere between a howl and a growl gone wrong. I collected a number of discarded blue jay flight feathers. I am assuming that they were donated due to an encounter with a predator. That’s nature. I am so very grateful to be here. Oh…and, thankfully, no site of Donald’s bear.

walks with bears

In light of my experience with a bear yesterday I now carry an air horn in my biscuit bag. I must assume that this is Donald’s bear and, according to Donald, scares easily. He opened the door a few nights ago to find that a very large bear was investigating the garbage can on his porch. The bear left quickly. A blast from the horn hopefully will take the situation in hand. I now walk with the dogs and the bear.

I don’t think this is a wolf. I know that’s what I set out to paint but it was clearly intercepted by my fear. Here it is anyway.

I was walking my dogs this morning as usual. A truck pulled up beside me and a giant of a man got out and came around to speak to me. He was a cross between the Hulk and a line backer. He said…..”I thought I should warn you what with you and your dogs out here. I just saw a hugh bear coming across the road. He stood up and he was far taller than me.” Now I was looking up at this guy ….way up. So I can’t imagine the bear. He said he had taken some photos on his phone and he showed them to me. I couldn’t see them because I didn’t have my glasses but I got the picture. “You need to be careful.” I don’t know what that meant. What does careful mean in a situation like this.

Well I thought either this sucker is going to show up or he isn’t and I will just keep on going home. No sign of any bear, but I was looking real hard. Then I passed my neighbor’s house and she opened her door and yelled to me  “There’s a hugh bear is over there. He’s not afraid of anything.” That was reassuring. then she closed the door. Now Buddha started bellowing. Obviously he had noticed that we had a bear around. I leashed him and kept on going home. I mean what else could I have done. I never saw the bear and I got home. I called my friend Alice. I knew that she would be up and she would understand. We used to go walking together and she carried a 38 mm. The first chamber housed a blank….to scare off an animal. The second contained a full fledged bullet. I always hoped that she wouldn’t have to test it out. She was helpful and sent me the online site for bear spray. I’m not quite sure how I am going to be walking the dogs tomorrow morning. This seems to be neighborhood bear. My friend Donald who lives less than a quarter mile away said a reeeelly big bear has been up on his porch for the last two nights. I think I will call the bear Donald’s Bear and hope that we don’t meet…..ever.

You know that unicorns are, in present times, supposed to be creatures of fantasy. But Unicorns were believed to be real in times before this. I have a difficulty thinking that they are never existed since images of unicorns are abundantly present in all ancient cultures. I think that the world is a much better place with unicorns.

She rests. Weary from her sacrifice. Floating are the dreams of the healing which will restore vitality to the land.

No worries mate! Is Frank fixing his paws up for his Saturday night date?

If you watch a cat you can learn a lot about life. Right now Frank is stretched out on the lounge in the back yard. It’s time to relax and he does that perfectly. Later tonight it will be time to hunt and he will be perfectly attentive while doing that. He is definitely not making any shopping lists while he is relaxing or hunting. He is truly there. Perfectly present. No nervous indigestion here. Think about it….even though Frank doesn’t have to think about it…he just is. No worries.

Wolf is howling for joy. He does that often for no particular reason that human knows. Wolf is asking you to trust your own spirit and release.

Here comes the messenger again. He is carrying a river rock all tied up with twine. Perhaps he is telling us to drop our self imposed burdens? Raven teaches us to go into darkness and bring forth the light.
