Wakan Tanka,

Great Mystery

Teach me how to trust my heart,

my mind,

my intuition,

my inner knowing,

the senses of my body

the blessings of my spirit.

Teach me to trust these things

so that I may enter my Sacred Space

and Love beyond my fear

and thus Walk in Balance

with the passing of each glorious Sun.

I see a time of Seven Generations when all the colors of mankind will gather under the Sacred Tree of Life and the whole Earth will become one circle again.

…………..Crazy Horse

Yes my dears…..this prophecy is birthing now. This is a very wondrous time and I am so happy to be on the Earth to participate.

I am dedicating this painting to honor the healing flute music of Carlos Nakai.  When I was 3 years old a groundbreaking surgery was performed on my left hand and ring finger to remove a bone tumor. The innovative operation was very successful but not much hope was given that I would ever use my ring finger again. I was just so fortunate that the finger was saved. So when I was about 6 years old and I wished to learn to play the flute I was repeatedly discouraged and told that it would be impossible for me to learn because of my stunted and immobile finger. Since I kept pleading  to try, a teacher was found and a silver flute supplied. I practiced and practiced and by the time I was 10 I won a music contest playing the flute that everyone said that I would not be able master. In the learning process my finger had become fully mobile so much so that I was able  play my instrument with excellence. Still, today I have full mobility of my hand and finger. I do believe that this magical instrument was the mystic healer for my body.

‘Great Bear Spirit…. show me how to sink deep within myself to find answers. Teach me to understand that I possess all the resources necessary to survive and to know when to seek solitude and when to emerge and nurture all that was born in darkness. Guide me towards sweetness, play, wisdom and truth. Remind me to climb higher. Guide me towards strength, Keeper of Medicine, that I might defend those I love, move with speed to where I need to be, and stand nobly for what I believe.’

10,000 years ago the earth was all ice and snow. Everything was white. Then Raven the creator created the Green. Raven did not want to forget the misery of the great ice age so he asked Black Bear, keeper of dreams and memory, to help create a reminder of the long white time. Raven told bear that he could live in peace and safety forever if he would agree to let one out of every ten Black Bears turn white. To this day the white bears…spirit bears….. still roam in the Great Bear Rain Forest of the Pacific Northwest.

Buddha went into the woods this morning with Maus following close on his heels. I could hear his bark. Maus came back but I kept hearing crashing in the underbrush. Then Buddha came running out of the woods and headed for home. I called him and he came obviously very frightened and full of foxtails. I think that he had a close encounter with Brer Bear. I hope that he learned a lesson.

I have not yet seen a Crestline bear this season. We have a long summer ahead. I don’t look for them, but they appear. I carry an air horn as possible protection. I don’t know whether that would work. I don’t suppose they would like the noise. As long as there are no cubs with Mama bear it’s pretty safe. Black bears aren’t mean. I hope, I hope, I hope.
