Owl is the symbol of the feminine, the moon and the night. Owl says to use your inner wisdom right now because it is trying to tell you something. Trust it.

The Eskimo Wind Drum, is a circle that has no beginning nor ending, in which we all belong. Only The Great Creator holds the handle, and every time He touches upon the rim, He hears the heart beat of mankind. The stronger the heart beat the healthier mankind is.

This is a powerful heart-prayer from the ancient Eskimo tradition:
‘My hope is that we will all have a strong heart beat

so we can be healthy together
and since it is your heart beat
every time you talk to your heart
she will always speak back.’

The lesson for all of us is to learn how to listen to our hearts.

The barn owl is different than other owls with its white heart shaped face and large black eyes. With this owl totem there is a strong connection to be made between heart and mind. And that is something that we all must learn. It is both a thing of beauty and haunting at the same time. To me they seem rather human and a bit ghost like as they glide silently above the trees.

Owl is a night bird and tuned to feminine moon energy. Owl in your dreams…..perhaps a transition occurring in your life and consider following your intuition.

There is an owl outside my cottage sitting way up in one of the giant cedars. I can’t see him but I know that he is there because he calls both night and day.. I love that sound. Since I don’t know what kind of an owl he is I painted a great horned owl which are plentiful here. I usually paint barn owls because their faces seem so human to me.

Owl is associated with the moon and the night whereas the eagle belongs to the sun and daylight. When owl comes to you in a dream you should perhaps see if you are ignoring your intuitive nature. Perhaps you are too much in your mind. Balance is needed.

Snowy owl

I haven’t been around this month due to an emergency stay in the hospital for a chronic heart condition. I was there for a week  and had a procedure which unfortunately didn’t work. I’m back home resting and waiting for another procedure on January 31. This one should be successful and will make me feel much better. I’m in good spirits but my activity is very limited for right now. I have been tremendously supported by family and friends for which I am very grateful. One of my friends has my dogs for the duration. They joined her own three dogs (a five dog night) and are reportedly having a good visit. She has been vacuuming them in an attempt to keep the dropping dog hair in check. She said they both like the vacuuming. I will have to give it a try in addition to using the furminator. I miss them terribly but they are being loved by Alice. I couldn’t ask for more. I haven’t been painting but I am drawing a bit. I completed this owl before I went to the hospital. Until then…many blessings, Gretchen
