And forget not

that the Earth delights

to feel your bare feet

and the winds long

to play with your hair

…….Kahlil Gibran

When I was a child I had two pet rabbits. Their hutch was kept in the garage during the winter. One snowy morning I looked out a window in the front of our house and saw my miniature dachshund Hannah running down the street along side one of my rabbits holding onto one of his ears with her mouth. She had rescued the rabbit from the perils of escape we shortly found the second rabbit on a neighbor’s back porch stoop. Catastrophe averted. There were no leash laws nor animal permits many years ago. Also house and car doors were not locked. I was permitted from a very early age to spend the day alone in the woods. I wish that I could give that experience of peace and joy to my grandchildren. Sadly children today must be protected from the possibility of dangerous adults.

  1. So beautiful Gretchen, I had to share this 🧡

  2. Yes life was very different once upon a time. But I’m always looking for the good around me 😊Beautiful painting Gretchen! Love this post 💖 Have a great weekend!!!

  3. Love this, Gretchen! I’m never disappointed when I visit!

  4. Beautiful art and a lovely story to go with it. Dangerous adults have always existed….we just didn’t know about them. Statistically there are no more child abductions today than there were 50 years ago.

    • Thank you Mama. I grew up very rural and I still am not fond of the city except for a visit. Nothing happened in out tiny town and that peacefulness formed me. Cities have sharp edges while nature is round. Maybe that steers me. I much appreciate your comment.
