“I give you this one thought to keep

I am with you still,

I do not sleep.

I am a thousand winds that blow

I am the diamond glints on the snow,

I am the sunlight on ripened grain, I am the gentle autumn rain.

When you awaken in the morning’s hush,

I am the swift, uplifting rush

of quiet birds in circled flight

I am the soft stars that shine at night.

Do not think of me as gone –

I am with you still, in each new dawn.”

…….a Native American Prayer

This watercolor is a commission that I created for a beautiful Native American woman from one of the Klamath tribes. It depicts her relationship with her late brother. His manitou is the red tail hawk and hers is the wolf. Her story and her loving nature touched my heart. It was my honor to create this painting for her.

  1. i will think of this when i am missing my late sister, very comforting

  2. So beautiful d ew r Gretchen. The artwork is just amazing!

  3. So beautiful. speaks to the heart and the universe. The combination of nature and love. It’s truly wonderful.

    • Thank you Gigi. Native American culture sees no difference between themselves and nature. Happily this way of living leads to healthy management of resources. Unhappily modern humans have lost this wisdom and the planet is in trouble all around.
