High orator of the raven clan. It sounds like a lot of squawking to us but ravens are very smart and who knows what instruction could be voiced.

  1. How beautiful!. The flowing feathers, the intelligent eye, the patterened beak –lovely details. I like the necklace, perhaps worn in her highness, under a golden sun. We should listen.

  2. love it!
especially the counterpoint between the eye and the sun… could only be a vision of truth…

  3. adore that you caught the purple tones 🙂 I can just imagine this raven storyteller

  4. Beautiful! I love how you portray the iridescence of the feathers! Ravens have the most highly developed linguistic systems next to ours (that we know of!). Even scientists have acknowledged their syntax. They do, indeed, have a language. Your messenger brings up a good point, that animal “vocalizations” have meaning, they aren’t squawking or gibberish, any more than the sounds a person makes when she is speaking a language one doesn’t understand. We humans should pay more attention to the others and their voices.

  5. Yes… beautiful messenger…speaking right to our hearts! Thank you Gretchen!

  6. You handle the black so well. It is hard to make black feel alive. This is very successful.
