  1. Really neat, Gretchen. He has a look of sadness, age, and wisdom; of determination more than ferocity. Love the sentiment and the way you convey it.

    • Thank you. I think the sadness refects also the way Native Americans felt having been striped of the life style.

      • The sadness of a continent. The sadness of the land. These things need art to give them voice, where language will not suffice.

      • Yes. That has always been the way of the artist. One just cannot help but sending a message to humanity whether or not it is heard.

      • I like to think that if a message goes out into the world, it is “heard” by the world, in some mysterious way.

      • The workings of spirit are indeed mysterious. I do truly believe that all messages are heard. We cannot always see results because we have fixed our minds for them to occur in a certain way.

  2. Such handsome animals and this one is a toroughbred by the set of his jaw and the intensity of his demeanor.

  3. This is beautiful. I love so many of your paintings that it is too difficult to choose one. My mom loves hers, but I am making a list of my favourites so I can finally pick one. Since I work with natives and admire and respect their culture, your work really speaks to me. 🙂

  4. that is awesome art its so beautiful and so full of character.
