I met coyote again today sitting right where I usually rest when on a walk. Since the dogs wanted to chase him and it was difficult to hang onto them, I turned around and headed back home. This coyote followed me little by little. He matched my length of steps with his own. He would just look at us when I stopped. Finally, as I approached the main road, he just lay down in the sunny field. I would love to know his game and game it must be since coyotes are so smart and tricky but this behavior is mysterious to me.
Beautiful painting and story, Gretchen. Would he perhaps be seeking contact with you?
Possibly with my dogs. They will play with dogs but you never know. I can’t take the chance that a coyote would lure one of the dogs back to the pack.
Love it! Maybe he was just saying “thank you.” (Or provoking your dogs for a “laugh”…that’s always a possibility!) 🙂
Yes…the trickster. The dogs definitely put on a show. I would just love to understand the communication.
WOW what an experience! Have you looked up the coyote totem? In Animal Speak the keywords are “Wisdom and Folly,” but much is written on this amazing critter… They’re so clever.
Such a beautiful artwork!!
My coyote medicine is strong. And I think this is why they are frequenting my life so much. I feel very attached to coyotes and quite akin. They are amazing.
Love the thought of this. The subtle connection. Your painting gives off that idea of “coyote thought”, also.
Thanks for your comment Leslie. They are so smart.
