I thought to depict a barn owl peeking out of a tree hollow and as I was painting I rotated the painting to get a better angle for my brush. I suddenly became aware of a much different image than that upon which I had been working. New eyes. It happens often. What I saw was a Catholic nun in her black and white habit. The experience suddenly changed the way that I held my creation. The body of the owl and the tree intermingled and the darkness of the hollow became a habit.

  1. brilliant! such a wonderful development of the piece… owls are such amazing creatures, too.

  2. Beautiful. Such warm and gentle eyes, caring and a bit curious.
